After thirty-five years as a television documentary film editor, I now make my own films – some commissioned, some personal. I also write memoirs and poetry – about home, family, time, nature, landscape and travel.

TO THE EDGE

A film tribute to my father Oliver Heywood. Going beyond words, a dialogue between a landscape painter and a filmmaker. A quest to find one of Oliver’s last sketching places on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides.

“Brimming with powerful and beautiful images, a fine illumination of your father’s work process and with a very moving ending.”

MOVING PICTURES

Landscape films, without words, exhibited in galleries. Discovering new ways of making and screening work.  “A celebration of the senses – turbulent, tranquil, full of discovery. A captivating and very timely exhibition.”

FILMS 2010 – 2021

MEMOIRS

The Flicker of Time describes Pip’s life as a film editor. “This is a wonderful book. It explains all the practical and subtle artistic aspects so well. Although superficially the process is mechanical, in the end you end up feeling it’s poetry. It should be available reading in every film school.” Mischa Scorer, documentary film producer and director.
